Webinar: Fostering collaboration: The future of European Partnerships in FP10

How can European Partnerships continue to support research and innovation in an increasingly competitive and uncertain world?

This question was at the centre of EERA's webinar "Fostering Collaboration: The Future of EU Partnerships in FP10", held on 18 May 2026. The event focused on the future of one of Horizon Europe's most important instruments for coordinating research and innovation efforts across Europe.

Participants reflected on the evolving role of Partnerships and the challenges ahead. Topics included governance, implementation, simplification and flexibility, as well as how Partnerships can continue to deliver impact while responding to Europe's growing needs in competitiveness, resilience and the clean energy transition.

As Lorenzo Malerba, Coordinator of EERA Joint Programme Nuclear Materials, noted"A medium-sized co-funded European Partnership can be an effective instrument to leverage, at the same time, European Union, Member State and private funding, while fostering high-level industry-oriented research and development."

One message emerged clearly from the discussion: addressing Europe's most pressing challenges will require long-term collaboration, and European Partnerships remain one of the main frameworks for making this happen.
