ISOS 16: International Summit on Organic and Hybrid Photovoltaics Stability

Supported by EERA Joint Programme Photovoltaic Solar Energy (PV), the International Summit on Organic and Hybrid Photovoltaics Stability (ISOS) centers on the critical theme of enhancing the long-term and operational stability of organic and hybrid perovskite solar cells. These emerging photovoltaic technologies are celebrated for their high efficiency and low-cost potential. Commercial uptake is however limited due to lack of understanding and mitigating degradation mechanisms driven by exposure to harsh outdoor real-life working conditions.

Conference objectives:

  1. Community building: The conference brings together experts from academia and industry to exchange ideas, share research findings, and build a global community focused on improving the longevity and reliability of emerging organic, hybrid, and perovskite photovoltaic technologies.
  2. Promoting understanding of stability issues: The conference deepens the understanding of degradation mechanisms and stability challenges in these novel solar cells, addressing both intrinsic material properties and extrinsic environmental factors.
  3. Developing standardized protocols: A major goal is to establish consensus testing protocols (effectively reported already as the ISOS protocols) for assessing the stability and lifetime of organic and hybrid solar cells, enabling consistent comparisons across labs, using a.o. international round robin studies) and accelerating progress toward commercialization.
  4. Advancing practical applications: By tackling the primary bottleneck of durability, the conference seeks to support the development of novel commercially viable solar technologies.
  5. Exploring innovative solutions: It provides a platform to discuss cutting-edge research on materials, device architectures, and protective strategies to mitigate degradation and enhance stability.
