Catalysing European energy research for a climate-neutral society by 2050

Full name: Preparing for a Long-Term Joint EU-AU Research and Innovation Partnership on Renewable Energy

Call: H2020-LC-SC3-2018-Joint-Actions-1

Funding period: 07/2018-08/2019

EC contribution: € 1m

Grant agreement no.: 815264

Coordinator: CEA (FR)

The PRE-LEAP-RE project partner will identify and formulate a strategic Joint Research and Innovation (R&I) Programme for renewable energy technology and establish the organizational principles for its implementation within a forthcoming Joint Programme by bringing together national funding agencies of EU member states, African states and other key EU-AU actors involved in energy research.

The 17 project partner organisations aim to:

  • Elaborate a mapping and analysis of past and current initiatives, opening synergies with ongoing activities in order to identify research and capacity needs.
  • Define a research and innovation agenda implemented through a human and institutional capacity building agenda. Both agendas will be context-driven and with effective links between education, research, and innovation – the three sides of the “knowledge triangle”.
  • Boost the initiative towards an AU-EU Platform on renewable energy, activating policy makers, public institutions, academia, private sector and civil society. Working together must build a long-term collaboration and effective innovation in renewable energy by securing the engagement of national key stakeholders.
