Members of the EERA Executive Committee
EERA has evolved into a legal entity named “EERA AISBL” since April 2014. It is governed respectively by the General Assembly composed of representatives of all the Members and by the Executive Committee.
Everyone is entitled to speak in the General Assembly but only full Members have the right to vote. The General Assembly meets at least once a year and is the supreme governing body of EERA, notably on the decisions concerning the approval of the budget, the membership fees, the annual report of activities, the determination of the Executive Committee, the change of the internal rules, etc.
The Executive Committee is the main governing body of EERA. It provides guidance to the Alliance, takes the decisions on its functioning and approves new Joint Programmes. The Executive Committee is supported by the Personal Representatives and the EERA secretariat. The Personal Representatives meet prior to the Executive Committee meetings to prepare these. The secretariat serves as point of contact between the Executive Committee and the EERA Joint Programmes and provides support to the Executive Committee.
The EERA Joint Programmes bring together researchers from participating organisations. An organisation can join either as a full or an associate participant. Each EERA Joint Programme has a Steering Committee (JPSC) which is the decisional body of the Joint Programme. The Steering Committee is composed of a representative from each participant (in the JPSC, Participants represent the interests of the Associate Participants that are linked to them).
The Joint Programme is led by a Joint Programme Coordinator. Together with the Sub-Programme leaders he or she forms the Joint Programme Management Board. The management board is responsible for all management aspects of the Joint Programme. The Sub-Programmes are the structured by scientific areas – here, research activities take place.
